I am new to the site and wanted to ask a couple questions for those that may have gone through similar frustrations postoperatively. I have completed the 3 month period of immobility using cast,  both hard and air. I just received my brace that fits in shoe and it has not been a pleasant experience. I have switched shoe size up to a 1/2" and used wide instead of narrow and now feel as if shoes are to loose. I am trying to accomodate a bunion as well as the brace. Has anyone had this experience and what type of shoe were you able to wear comfortably.

Does anyone have some positive experiences regarding bilateral or unilateral hip core decompression?

Hello everyone.  I was diagnosed with AVN in both hips in fall of '08, I am 31.  It is most likely caused by taking Prednisone for lengthy periods of time to treat moderately severe Crohn's Disease.  It took me about 3 years to get my Chrohn's under control, now this.  Great....

I'm new to this community, and am very grateful to have a sounding board with people who have gone through similar experiences.

I'm 22-years-old, have had a partial left shoulder replacement and a core decompression in my right shoulder, both due to AVN. I was diagnosed with AVN in my hips this past April, and had a bilateral hip core decompression at the beginning of June.

I'm still quite often in pain, and not pain from the surgery. I know that the core decompression worked on my shoulder, but with the way I'm feeling, I'm not holding out much hope for my hips.

As is probably the case with most that initially come to this site, I was hoping to read about others with similar experiences with AVN. It's hard for me to believe that I've been stricken with this ailment, and even harder to believe how it came about. As I read about so many others that used steroids that resulted in their condition, I too believe that they caused mine. The problem with my case is that it was most likely caused by a one-time prescribed "dose pak" for inner ear inflammation.

Im hoping you could help me with a few things I have been thinking about as I havent had a chance yet to ask my Surgeon these things as I live 2 and a half hours flight away from my Surgeon and usually am mind boggled by the time I see the Surgeon as I see many nurses or medical staff and the latest Surgeon that carried out my Bone Decompression was a different Surgeon from the previous one who replaced my Right Hip as that Surgeon was not well at the time and was on leave.
