AVN at 10 years old
more than AVN

i am a 60 yr old white female. 1 1/2 yr ago my right quad became hard and raised i went to my family dr, he recommened an ortho and a rheum. this is where it all started. first bursitis in my right knee, then it went to my left knee (as you'll see there is a progresion and is bilateral) i had an mri to confirm. it then went to my hips, right then left, on the outside first. i was told to come back when it went to my groin. i did and an mri confirmed i ave avn. it went to my shoulders, again right then left, i have torn ligaments in both.

Talus AVN

In December 2008 after a ski holiday I noticed my big toe was numb.  after 2 weeks of increasing shooting pains from the ankle through to my big toe I decided to see a docotor.  I was quickly sent for an MRI believing I had Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome only to find out my problems were much worse.  I turns out I have all of the following.

2cm Osteonecrosis Lesion on the Talar Dome

1cm Osteonecrosis Lesion on the Navicular

Osteoarthritis of the Talonavicular joint + a partial coalition

Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome (very very painful)

Joel's Avascular Necrosis story

My Avascular Necrosis story unfolds in a peculiar way. I returned from an overseas trip and started developing very intense chest pain. The pain felt kind of like a broken rib, but it was located in the upper center of my chest. Doctors finally diagnosed the problem to be an inflammation of the chest wall and costal cartilages, called Tietze's Syndrome. The chest inflammation was so severe and painful that I could not even put on a t-shirt by myself.
